NSW Darling-Baaka River Explorer (7 Days)
Following the Darling-Baaka River from the historic outback town of Bourke to the confluence of the Darling and the Murray Rivers at Wentworth, this tour is packed with visits to some very historic and famous sites, spectacular views of two significant NSW rivers’, some great camping and one Station Stay.
The tour commences at Dubbo and moves on to Bourke via Nyngan where we will visit some interesting and historic sites. We will spend two nights in Bourke to experience the sights from Mt Oxley as well as visit the town of Bourke and take in all the sites that this Gateway to the Real Outback has to offer. Leaving Bourke to follow the Darling River, we will make camp for two nights at Trilby Station, a 5th generation working sheep station and join a guided tour of the nearby famous Dunlop Station.
Continuing on the western bank of the river and then crossing over to the eastern bank after Tilpa, we will head to Wilcannia whilst enjoying some scenic driving along the Darling River.
On day 6, we will head to Menindee on the Menindee-Wilcannia West road to take in the sights around Menindee and Kinchega National Park. We will end the day with camping on the banks of Lake Pamamaroo.
We head out to Wentworth the next day to visit the mighty and famous confluence of the Darling and Murray Rivers, the site where Capt. Charles Sturt arrived on 23rd Jan 1830. On the way, we may have an opportunity to visit World Heritage Mungo NP, filled with breathtaking landscapes and Aboriginal artefacts dating back over 40,000 years.
The tour will finish with a well-earned farewell dinner in either Wentworth or Mildura, depending on the caravan park we check into.
Join us on this absolutely amazing and unforgettable adventure along the Darling River. You will be able to explore the rich history and culture of the NSW Outback, enjoy views of incredible landscapes, encounter local wildlife and visit iconic outback towns brimming with friendly Aussie spirit.
